It's always a high wire act, isn't it?

Whether it's the Tsar or the stars, you have to take the next breath, make the next move. There's a pensiveness in all of that waiting. But you can't live there. You have to enter that space we call what comes next. You cannot hold onto what you are and want to be.

Yesterday, at Open Canvas, as people approached the painting, you could see that they wanted to participate in Chris' painting. They were immediately drawn in. They paused, caught off guard. They knew this painting presented them with an opportunity, and that they wanted to take up that opportunity.

Dare they?

You could see them each at the threshhold.

It's a bit scary, a bit delightful, a bit wicked, a bit thrilling.

Dare I enter this?

What is next?

Observers wanted to enter the painting. They wanted to enter the story. They wanted to invent the story.

Could they give themselves permission?

Could they allow themselves to be lured in by the lurid red, the stunning woman, waiting. Their own deep need for mystery?
